Lustres from MAC mostly are sheer lipsticks that are extremely hydrating and render a glossy finish. Though it is one of the raved about finishes from Mac, I am not a complete fan. To know why and how I like Polished up read on..
Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M·A·C famous.
Price: INR 990/ USD 15 for 3g
How it fared:
Polished up is one of those shades lost among the brights and hyped up others that MAC has to offer. MAC describes the shade as Foxy brown. It is predominantly a brown shade with slight plummy undertone. Being a Lustre finish lipstick, it goes sheer initially but 2-3 swipes brings up enough color on the lips though not to the level of being opaque. Still being the color it is, the lipstick covers lip pigmentation to an extent.
MAC Polished up Lipstick goes on smooth and is extremely hydrating. It leaves a glossy wet finish that is typical of luster finishes. The lipstick adequately hydrates the lips and feels ultralight too. Okay so now you might ask me, what is the problem that I have with the finish – It sounds so uber cool! It is infact a cool finish. The only issue I have is the staying power. Being ultra moist these lipsticks stay on me for nearly 2 hours after which it completely rubs off. Yes, being the finish it is, the lipstick has a tendency to slightly bleed and transfer easily. Having a Lip liner as a base makes the lipstick perform slightly better in the feathering and staying power area though not phenomenally so.
- Pretty brown shade
- Goes on smooth
- Ultra hydrating
- Wet Glossy Finish
- Feathers slightly
- Stays only for nearly 2 hours without fading
Round Up: In terms of the moist wet finish and ultra comfort wear, Lustres ARE one of the best finishes from MAC. For me the nays listed do weigh down my inclination towards the same. But if you are looking for ultra hydrating, sheer and lightweight properties in your lipstick and wouldn’t mind the frequent touch ups then its green signal ahead.
