Being the MAC fan I am, any blogging would be incomplete without dedicating a post to the cult gel liner from MAC, Blacktrack fluidline.
MAC description:
Ultra-smooth, Fluidline’s gel formula provides the precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish. Goes on “foolproof” with a brush in an easy dip-and-stroke action. Long-wearing. Smudge-proof. Lines up in a rich array of colours and finishes. Brush sold separately.
Price : INR 1100 for 3g
How it fared:
MAC describes the shade as solid flat black and that’s exactly what it is. It is a deep matte black shade that looks very natural on the eyes.
Blacktrack has a very creamy and smooth gel like texture. It glides on the lids without any pulling or tugging and deposits colour evenly resulting in precise lines. The gel liner not only works as a precise liner but is waterline safe too. I have not had any issues and I use it to tightline. Blacktrack is a very versatile product and functions as an eyeshadow base too for a deeper smokey eye look.
The gel liner is smudgeproof and does not crease on me. It stays on me all day without any smearing and flaking. Since I prefer blacker kohls for my waterline, I rarely use it in that manner. But whenever I do, I find that it does not last me all day in the waterline. After nearly 5 hours I find the liner has nearly completely faded off (watery eyes maybe?). But that is not the case with lining the lashlines. This way it stays put all day long without any issue. For a liner that stays put all day, it is surprisingly easy to remove too.
I always store my fluidlines upside down. I have had the blacktrack for the longest time and it remains creamy and smooth, texture wise. It has not shown any signs of drying up which I am relieved about. This is one major complaint I have heard about fluidlines though.
The fluidlines come in a small glass pot fitted with a black screw cap. It holds about 3g of product snugly within. Though I try not to drop it, I still feel it’s kind of sturdy and travel friendly.
One major factor attributing to the preciseness and finesse of application is the brush used. I prefer to use a bent eye liner brush like Inglot 30T and it works great.
Yays:
- Deep matte black liner
- Creamy , smooth gel like texture
- Smudge proof
- Does not smudge or flake
- Lasts all day
- Waterline safe
- Versatile product
- Easy to remove
Nays:
- Needs a separate brush for application
- Does not stay for long on the waterline
- Fluidlines in general, have a tendency to dry up after sometime (I haven’t faced the same yet)
- Expensive for 3g of product
Round up: Blacktrack is my go-to all time favorite gel liner. I use it almost every single day and the few cons listed aren’t enough to weigh down my opinion!
