Loreal Paris Color Infallible eyeshadows Review, Swatches

Infallible eyeshadows are one of my favorites from L’Oreal’s stable. My picks from the range would be endless chocolate, midnight blue and burning black.

Loreal Description of the product:

L’Oréal Paris unveils its latest eye shadow. Ultra-intense colour, up to 24 hour long-lasting hold and velvety soft feel.

ENHANCED COLOUR INTENSITY:Infallible Eyeshadows contain an exceptionally high level of colour pigments, for an intense colour finish. Additional binders (oils), coat and magnify the colour pigments revealing beautiful shimmer and maximized colour.

24 HOUR HOLD (CREASE-PROOF AND WATERPROOF:The colour adheres to the eyelid as durably and comfortably as a second skin. The Infallible formula stands up to the average woman’s 11,000 blinks per day. It also resists to rubbing, creasing and does not run into the fine lines around the eyes.

A VELVETY, SENSUAL TEXTURE:With a formulation that lies between the comfort of a cream and the ease of application of a powder, Infallible eyeshadow contains an exceptionally high proportion of binders (oils) for the softest, most velvety eyeshadow. The eyeshadow melts gently from the fingertips to the eyelid on application. The result is a rich and satiny look.

How it fared:

Even if it is a product I love, I rarely buy shades that I am sure I won’t be using much unless I am in the mood to experiment. I pick up shades that suit my skin tone, is not difficult to pull off and require very little effort. So as much as I loved the infallible range, I knew the above three would be the only shades that I will use even though ALL the colors looked extremely tempting and I wanted to bring them all home!

The Packaging

The Packaging

Infallible eyeshadows stand somewhere in between pressed and powder eyeshadow (cream to powder eyeshadows). These are finely milled and pressed by means of a stopper. In effect it actually looks like finely milled pigments pressed down to compact form by means of the stopper.

The packaging is a normal plastic pot fitted with a stopper that keeps the pigments in place and a twist open cap. The bottom of the tub is transparent that helps you locate the shades easier. The caps labels also correspond to the color of the eyeshadow. Overall the packaging is a sturdy, travel friendly one.

The eyeshadows are super fine, blends like a dream and deposits evenly. All 3 shades are superbly pigmented, however the colors give better intensity when used wet. Also the patting method of applying eyeshadows work better than the brush blending to achieve intensity. However I prefer to layer them over an eye primer because I find that because of the heavily pigmented nature of these shadows, it tends to crease after some time. Even though not to the level of being bothersome, a primer makes the shadows work better.

Okay now coming to the 24 hours claim; the eyeshadow does not last all that long on me, not that I tested it for 24 hours. It stays on me without fading for an average of 6 hours after which I notice slight creasing and fading off.

Endless Chocolate: It is a gorgeous true brown shimmery shade that would look awesome on India skin tones. The golden shimmers are not over the top and hence the shadow can work for day wear too.

Burning Black: It is a deep burgundy shade with purple shimmers. Again the shimmers are not over the top and will work as solid shade for evenings. The shade kind of reminds me of Beauty Marked from MAC, though I like this one better!

All night Blue: It’s a deep navy blue shade with blue shimmers that looks great with brown eyes. It works great in creating a smokey eye look. There are very few blue shadows that I adore and this shade is one among them. The shade though very pretty is easily dupable. The Deep truth from MAC is pretty close.

Yays:

  • Cream to powder eyeshadow
  • Gorgeous shade selection
  • Finely milled
  • Soft smooth texture
  • Superb pigmentation

Nays:

  • Have a tendency to crease after a while if not used with a base
  • Most shades are shimmery though shimmers are not OTT
  • Shades give maximum intensity when used wet
  • Patting the eyeshadows works better in building up color.
