So after my tryst with the Clarins serum from whitening range, here is the review of my current favorite serum I was talking to you about in the last post; Clarins double serum.
The first time I went serum shopping, I really had no idea what I wanted except that I needed to include a good serum as part of my daily skincare. Since the one I got did not yield any visible results, I was prepared this time as to what I wanted. Considering that I have now crossed the 25+ mark, I thought of slowly introducing anti-ageing products also into my daily regimen. At the counter when the SA introduced me to the double serum, I went no further and brought it. To know how it fared read on..

How it fared:
Now you know that if the hype about the product was not enough, the ingredient list can be equally tempting!
The serum has 2 parts, one oily (referred to as lipidic) and other a liquid (referred to as hydric) suspension stored in separate compartments in plastic bottle fitted with a pump dispenser. When you push the dispenser, both the lipidic and hydric part is mixed and the final dispensed product has the consistency of oil dispersed in liquid. As per the instructions to use the product, it is then mixed well by rubbing both the palms and then applied on to the face and neck. No it doesn’t end here. Clarins also suggests the use of draining pressure points method and claims that it helps in better absorption of the product. So after application of the product , I apply gentle pressure using my palms on the face and neck area.
Just for reference,I have fairly normal skin which is not prone to frequent break outs. Once mixed, the serum does not feel oily at all though I find that a little more of the product can lead to a slight stickiness. For this same reason, I am not sure how it will work for those with oily skin. I am not telling it won’t work, just letting you know that trying it out at the counter will definitely help you judge better.
The Serum feels quite light weight and gets absorbed easily. The serum in itself is quite moisturizing. I use it as part of my night skin care routine though the SA suggested it can be used both during the day and night. I wait for few minutes post application and follow it up with the night moisturizer.
I can see that there is a visible improvement in my skin texture with regular use of the serum. The skin feels much tighter and the pores are reduced to a large extent. I wouldn’t say there are any brightening effects if that is what you are looking for, though that wasn’t in my expectation list. I don’t have any visible fine lines yet but whatever little smile lines that I had around my mouth area is visibly reduced and not noticeable anymore. Overall I would say my skin is healthier and looks much younger.
I have been using the serum for nearly 2 months now and since little goes a long way there is still lots left to last me for few more months. So if you are in the lookout for an effective serum with anti ageing properties which actually does show some visible results clarins double serum might work for you!
